You may recognize comic and actress Anjelah Johnson-Reyes from her viral video “Nail Salon” or her no-filter MADtv character Bon Qui Qui. Now she’s adding ‘author’ to her credentials with her book Who Do I Think I Am?: Stories of Chola Wishes and Caviar Dreams and going on the road with her hilarious storytelling about navigating her racial identity, finding her place in the world and chasing her crazy dreams.

Johnson-Reyes was born and raised in San Jose, California and is of Mexican and Native American descent. She is one of five children and has a large extended family to which she remains close. In the beginning of her career, Johnson- Reyes was a professional cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders. After being named Rookie of the Year and even performed in Super Bowl XXXVII, she decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of acting.

She has guest-starred on shows such as The ShieldUgly BettyCurb Your Enthusiasm and films like in such films Our Family WeddingAlvin and the Chipmunks: the SqueakuelEnough SaidThe Resurrection of Gavin Stone and Mom’s Night Out — all while touring with her stand-up comedy.

In June 2009 she recorded her first one-hour special for Comedy Central and Warner Bros. Records titled, That’s How We Do It, followed by her specials The Homecoming Show (2013), Not Fancy (2014) and her most recent Mahalo & Goodnight (2017) filmed in Honolulu, Hawaii. It premiered on the Epix channel with Maxim Magazine declaring that “her comedy (is) uproariously funny and, in a time of great racial and political strife, oddly healing.”
