Alt-Country pioneers BR549 broke out from Nashville’s Lower Broadway in the early 90s giving Honky Tonk, Western Swing, Rockabilly and the Bakersfield sound broad appeal through their high-energy shows garnering 3 Grammy nominations in the process.
Following BR549’s 2006 hiatus, co-founder and leader Chuck Mead produced popular tribute albums to Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings, guest-lectured at Vanderbilt University on “The Sociology of Modern American Culture”, released 3 acclaimed solo albums, and acted as Music Director for the Broadway smash Tony-winning “Million Dollar Quartet”!
Chuck carries on in the spirit of BR459 with his vibrant Grassy Knoll Boys including member Carco Clave, a master of the pedal-steel guitar.
