Emily Bass and the Near Miracle is a Lincoln, Nebraska, outfit created by Emily Bass over a decade ago. A veteran solo entertainer, Bass was aiming to create space to play with others–the best feeling in the world. Adding stand-up bass, percussion and a few vocalists, Bass began to perform blues, R&B, soul, and gospel covers. In 2018, Bass organized a larger group to cover the Staples Singers’ album “Be Altitude: Respect Yourself” for a festival performance. The performance was a success, and Bass’s group, now entitled “Emily Bass and the Near Miracle,” took form. Bass began writing original music for the group, and today EBNTNM performs primarily original music, drawing on influences from the Staples Singers to Carole King to Radio Head and the Pixies. The group is known for dynamic performances and live energy and would love nothing better than to make their audience move!
